Virbac is delighted to introduce VETERINARY HPM® KIDNEY&JOINT, a new range of wet and dry clinical diets specifically formulated to help manage both chronic kidney disease (CKD) and osteoarthritis in cats, at the same time.

Cats are living longer. 1 in 3 cats are over 10 years old1 and 60% of senior cats have both CKD and osteoarthritis1. Adapted nutrition is key in addressing these pathologies in ageing cats.

The nutritional requirements of CKD vary depending on the stage. VETERINARY HPM® KIDNEY&JOINT allows a gradual support of the kidney function, with an adaptation of formula depending on the IRIS stage, to reduce phosphorus levels whilst avoiding early protein reduction and the associated lean mass loss correlated to a reduction in life expectancy.

VETERINARY HPM® KIDNEY&JOINT contains high quality protein, of which >85% is of animal origin, to support body condition and limit renal workload and the inclusion of an innovative new Palatability Plus Complex actively promotes food intake.

All of the KIDNEY&JOINT diets contain Mobility Plus Complex, an exclusive mix of chondroprotective agents for joint support which are proven to increase joint flexibility and mobility with high levels of Omega 3 and DHA. Egg shell membrane (ESM) contains a number of naturally occurring active biomolecules that can help to maintain joint health including collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate and more than 200 different proteins.

‘CKD is the first cause of mortality at, or after, 5 years of age2 and osteoarthritis is highly prevalent but underdiagnosed in senior cats, with most cats being diagnosed at an advanced stage’ said Dan Johnson
Product Manager at Virbac, ‘so with VETERINARY HPM® KIDNEY&JOINT Virbac hopes to provide clinicians with a significant advancement in the nutritional management of these feline pathologies’.

Presented in three dry and two wet formats, VETERINARY HPM® KIDNEY&JOINT provides support and management for IRIS Stages 1-4:
