Newcomer Charlotte Aiming High At St Anne's Vets
A new graduate veterinary surgeon at one of the leading vet practices in Sussex is aiming high after swapping the lecture theatre for the operating theatre.
Newly qualified Charlotte Butcher is loving life after her switch from University studies to a hands-on role at Linnaeus-owned St Anne’s Veterinary Group, which has four practices in and around Eastbourne.
Keen climber Charlotte may only just be settling in but she’s keen to reach the pinnacle of the profession and deliver the very best care to sick and injured animals.
Charlotte said: “I am particularly excited to finally put all the clinical reasoning and practical skills from university into practice as well as having that autonomy of now being the real thing - a qualified vet.
“The surgical aspect of the job is something I especially enjoy and I'm hoping to complete a further surgery certificate in the future.
“I have also enjoyed teaching younger vet students or work experience staff during my Extra Mural Studies placements.
“That’s why I like the idea of potentially undertaking a surgery certificate and GDP advisor/ mentoring training in the future.
“Right now, though, I am learning the ropes and focusing on settling into the job and getting confident in my new role
“I am also really looking forward to building a rapport with clients, establishing that all important continuity of care as well as developing my own patient and client base.”
Outside of veterinary life, Charlotte leads an energetic, active lifestyle, enjoying indoor climbing alongside weekly combat classes.
Even away from work, her passion for animals still shines through. She explained: “I like to undertake various crafts including crochet, cross stitch and painting by numbers and recently completed a big project crocheting a replica of my friend’s Boston Terrier.”
