A Derbyshire vets has been formally recognised for its outstanding care by the veterinary industry’s regulatory body.

Chapel House Veterinary Practice, which has two surgeries in Chesterfield and Staveley, has received the accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as part of its Practice Standards Scheme (PSS).

The PSS is a voluntary initiative to accredit veterinary practices in the UK, which aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.

Following its latest assessment, Linnaeus-owned Chapel House’s Chesterfield practice retained its GP status, while its Staveley surgery improved from its core status to GP status.

For the practices to be accredited under the PSS, they needed to demonstrate they were meeting a broad range of stringent standards, all observed during a rigorous independent assessment completed every four years.

Helen Clarke, RVN and practice manager at Chapel House, said: “We are extremely proud to have achieved the RCVS accreditation for both of our practices.

“Our team is passionate about high standards of client and veterinary care and the RCVS accreditation offers us the framework to be the best possible practice with the highest of standards.

“By achieving this status, it means we have not only shown to encompass everything over and above the legislative and code requirements as laid out in the core standards level but that we have also proven to have extra considerations in place that benefit our team, patients, and clients.”

After the assessment and results from the RCVS, practices are assessed every four years, however, random spot check assessments may occur within that period.

The RCVS success for Chapel House comes hot on the heels of the practice winning a silver award from the prestigious International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM).

To earn their silver award, the team at Chapel House needed to show it offered high-quality treatment, support and privacy for feline patients.
