In March Bright Leaf Recruitment, a specialist Veterinary recruitment agency held their first “Preparing for the Workplace” workshop for this year’s HND Veterinary Nursing students at Scotland’s Rural University College. The workshop is designed to help students be better prepared for the world of work, equipping them with CV writing skills, job hunting hints and tips and interview techniques.
Julie Powell, Director of Bright Leaf Recruitment explained; “Many of the new graduates we talk to have never worked before and have very little experience of interviewing or CV writing. For these candidates, the interview process can be a very nerve wracking experience, particularly when they have studied for so long and are obviously so keen to get their first role. We hope that following this workshop we may be able to help them through this process and make them feel more confident when the time comes to start job hunting – improving their chances. We talk to many graduates and arrange many interviews. We are pleased to say; the vast majority of our interviewees are successful with the positions we submit them for, however we do feel we can help with the wider graduate population”
Richard Powell added: “ The day itself was great we had almost 20 student Nurses in the room which allowed for healthy debate. Hot topics included; Do employs check your Facebook profile before they make a decision and should you provide Facebook as a form of contact as well as locum vs. permanent work – both subjects we were able to advise on”.
Bright Leaf Recruitment are also holding a similar workshop at the Royal Dick Vet School in April and are very keen to roll out the workshop to other establishments this year and welcome any enquires.1507 views
