The Vets Now 19th annual Emergency and Critical Care Congress is Leeds has been hailed an overwhelming success.

Almost 1,000 attendees – delegates, exhibitors and speakers – attended the two-day event at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 03 and 04 November 2022.

Organised and hosted by Vets Now, the first in-person ECC Congress for two years provided vets, vet nurses and other delegates the opportunity to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in emergency and critical care.

Some of the highlights included a keynote speech from Victoria Gosling OBE, Richard Casey’s sessions on the twenty-first century pet owner, an interactive panel on ethical dilemmas, and ‘The first time I...’ series focusing on tough clinic situations.

Arlene Connor, head of clinical operations, said: ‘It has been wonderful to finally come together in Leeds again in person. The record-breaking attendance shows how eager our ECC professionals are to share best practices and learn from each other.’

The Vets Now ECC Congress was first set up in 2004 to provide innovative training to the veterinary profession. This year, 36 speakers discussed topics across seven separate lecture streams, with up to 80 hours of CPD on offer.

The programme included a mixture of talks, discussion forums and workshops on subjects such as hypotension and sepsis to breaking bad news to clients.

Among the speakers were internationally-renowned vet professionals Søren Boysen from the University of Calgary in Canada and Sophie Adamantos from Paragon Referrals in Wakefield.

Chief Executive for GB Snowsport, Victoria Gosling OBE, opened Congress as keynote speaker where she focused on perseverance, resilience and teamwork.

Joining an all-star cast within the leading conference programme was Vets Now and IVC Evidensia’s very own Prof. John Williams, as well as Richard Casey, executive director for the World Small Animal Veterinary Association and VDS trainer Elly Russell.

Some 33 exhibitors attended Congress, showing off the latest technology and developments in small animal care. Woodley Equipment returned as headline sponsor.

The Vets Now ECC Congress 2023 dates have been announced for 9 and 10 November 2023. For more information, go to www.vets-now.com/congress2022
