One of the South West’s leading veterinary referral centres now boasts three board-certified specialists in its expert internal medicine team.
Adam Swallow, from Linnaeus-owned Cave Veterinary Specialists in Wellington, Somerset, has qualified as an EBVS-recognised specialist in small animal internal medicine.
He joins Cave’s clinical director Nele Van den Steen and Florence Wootton as a specialist in internal medicine.
Hospital director Claire Lawrence paid tribute to Adam’s hard work and dedication which, she says, will help expand the care and treatment on offer at Cave.
Claire said: “We’re delighted Adam’s achieved diplomate status, which means we now have three specialists in our six-strong internal medicine team.
“That’s vitally important, as our top priority at Cave is to provide outstanding specialist care for sick or injured pets.
“What’s more, our expert team works with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, which enables us to treat the most complex and challenging cases.”
Adam, whose key interests are gastroenterology, nephrology and haematology, added: “Becoming a board-certified specialist is fantastic and represents the culmination of more than five years of hard work.
“I look forward to improving the care of pets in the South West and building the services we can offer here at Cave.”
Adam, who joined Cave in 2019, began his career working in general practice before completing a one-year rotating internship at Langford Veterinary Services on a junior clinical training scholarship.
That was followed by a three-year residency at Queen’s Vets School Hospital, University of Cambridge, on a senior clinical training scholarship.
Adam is also an associate editor for the Journal of Veterinary Evidence and in his spare time he enjoys surfing and other water sports.
