Staff at VRCC was stunned by the news that an Elephant had tragically killed Kenyan Wild Life Veterinary Specialist Dr Zahoor Kashmiri last week whilst he was working in Ethiopia. VRCC had been collaborating with Zahoor and Kenyan Veterinary Surgeon Nonee Magree, hosting and organising a weekend of lectures for Veterinary Surgeons from all over East Africa on the Kenyan Coast in November.
However, the organisation has been strengthened by the addition and welcome commitment of Dr Vijay Varma, The Treasurer of The Kenyan Veterinary Association who has generously stepped in so the event, the first of its kind for many years and much needed in this deprived environment, can go-ahead as planned.
VRCC’s Specialists Dr Susan North and Henry L’Eplattenier will be joined by Merials South African Technical and Regulatory Manager Dr Hein Hesse who will be talking on Pain Management and Parasite Control. The weekend is already well subscribed and if successful will be staged as an annual event.
Dr Zahoor Kashmiri was a much liked and Internationally respected Veterinary Surgeon. A visit to the web site will show the depth of admiration of the many who knew and will miss and him. His support of an event like this, generously giving his time and experience for the good of others was a typical action of this kind man. A scholarship is being established in his name, which will be supported by VRCC and his other many friends and colleagues. 7212 views
