Two Ricardos Join The Team At Hamilton Specialist Referrals
Buckinghamshire-based small animal orthopaedic and neurology referral practice, Hamilton Specialist Referrals, has welcomed two new staff members as case-load remains high despite the coronavirus pandemic. The centre is eager to inform colleagues they very much remain open for business, and are continuing to recruit and grow the team.
Dr Ricardo de Sousa, European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, joins the team as consultant orthopaedic surgeon. Originally from Portugal and having worked in Barcelona, Dr de Sousa came to the UK in 2008 and has since worked at a variety of referral centres and universities. He is a Diplomate of The European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery. He has co-authored a number of scientific papers and has presented at multiple national and international congresses. Dr de Sousa is interested in all aspects of surgery, but has a particular interest in total joint replacement.
Dr Ricardo Fernandes, also originally from Portugal, joins the team as neurology registrar. Dr Fernandes obtained his DVM in 2008 and through a love of travel and experiencing different cultures, came to the UK in 2010. He has worked in first opinion practice and completed two internships, developing his interest areas of medicine and neurology. He recently completed a three year ECVN neurology residency at Fitzpatrick Referrals. His particular areas of interest are in neurosurgery and inflammatory CNS disease.
The structured growth of the team continues despite the Covid-19 pandemic and is the start of a new phase of expansion. Managing Director, Clare Hamilton, says “We’re delighted to welcome both Ricardo and Ricardo to the team at HSR. They both bring with them a wealth of experience and talent to complement and help us build our growing referral centre. Despite the current challenges, our team have gone above and beyond to continue to provide the level of service our colleagues and clients value so highly”.
