University Veterinary Staff Benefit from Zoetis Travel Bursary
Two members of staff at the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Science Equine Department have benefited from Zoetis travel bursaries to help them share their academic research.
Fernando Malalana, a senior lecturer in Equine Internal Medicine and Claire Robinson, a resident in Equine Surgery, were awarded the highly sought after 2015 Zoetis travel bursaries following a rigorous internal application process to select the best student research presentations.
Claire’s paper Can Serum Amyloid A, D-Lactate or L-Lactate aid diagnosis of synovial sepsis in horses? was well received at the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) Surgery Summit, in October 2015. Fernando is scheduled to present The role of Leptospira spp. in horses affected with recurrent uveitis in the UK at the Dorothy Havemeyer Equine Ophthalmology Symposium, Malahide, Ireland in June 2016.
Zoetis has been providing travel bursaries for academic staff at Liverpool University for several years. Wendy Talbot, National Equine Veterinary Manager at Zoetis said: “Our travel bursaries are an important aspect of the veterinary support provided by Zoetis in the UK. We are pleased to have been able to give practical help to enable these members of staff to share their important research with the wider academic community.”
