VECTRA 3D spot-on solution for dogs and VECTRA Felis 423mg/42.3mg spot-on solution for cats, manufactured by Ceva Animal Health, have undergone a change of distibution category and are now available as NFA-VPS products.

The change of distribution category from POM-V to NFA-VPS will enable veterinary practices to sell the popular broad spectrum topical parasiticides to ‘walk-in clients’ without the need of a prescription, following the usual prescribing rules for NFA-VPS products.  This provides veterinary practices with a convenient way of selling parasite prevention while encouraging compliance.

Andrew Fullerton, veterinary surgeon and product manager at Ceva Animal Health, comments: “The new NFA-VPS category for VECTRA 3D spot-on solution for dogs and VECTRA Felis 423mg/42.3mg spot-on solution for cats provides veterinary practices with greater flexibility to sell easy-to-use, fast and effective parasite prevention and treatment without a prescription.”

VECTRA 3D spot-on solution for dogs is an innovative broad spectrum topical ectoparasiticide that treats and protects dogs against fleas, ticks and flies using a patented applicator.  Containing a unique formulation of three active ingredients – dinotefuran, pyriproxyfen and permethrin – VECTRA 3D spot-on solution for dogs provides a rapid flea kill within two hours for dogs on current treatment and complete monthly protection against the major vectors: fleas, ticks, sand flies, mosquitoes and stable flies1. Insects do not need to ingest dinotefuran - it kills on contact reducing the incidences of flea feeding1.  A unique synergistic combination with permethrin increases the efficacy of both, facilitating rapid knock down and death.

VECTRA Felis 423mg/42.3mg spot-on solution contains dinotefuran and pyriproxyfen as its active ingredients and is used for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats.  Felis 423mg/42.3mg spot-on solution ensures that over 95% of fleas are killed within two hours and the effects last for a full month.  It also prevents the multiplication of fleas by inhibiting flea emergence in the environment of the cat for three months.

VECTRA 3D spot-on solution for dogs and VECTRA Felis 423mg/42.3mg spot-on solution for cats are administered via a unique applicator which has an elongated smooth tip for quick and easy application using an advanced innovative ‘Line-On’ technique.  The elongated tip on the applicator makes it easy to reach the animal’s skin through the hair to provide direct contact during the ‘Line-On’ application from the base of the tail to the neck. The applicator also provides accurate dosing and facilitates clean administration as nothing comes out until the tube is squeezed. In addition, the one-piece cap is simple to open as there is no need for scissors to remove the cap - pet owners simply need to push the two circles together.
