Alison then and now
Vet Alison Laurie Celebrates 35 Year Milestone
Alison Laurie BVMS MRCVS Senior Consultant at Crown Vets, Inverness graduated from Glasgow Vet School on 8th July 1983.
During her 35 year career as a general practitioner, Alison has worked in both mixed and companion animal practices throughout the UK - including Oban, Aberdeen, Inverness, Worcester, Dunvegan and Inverness again before joining Crown Vets back when we were Burgess & Donald in 2002.
Alison’s main interests are small animal medicine, ultrasound and cardiology. Her interest, enthusiasm and dedication within these fields has opened up and improved our diagnostic facilities in-house tremendously over the past few years, and she is our lead Vet in the investigation and treatment of heart disease.
We are delighted to have Alison as a member of our team here at Crown Vets, her experience, commitment and dedication is truly infectious. In 2011, Alison was the UK winner of the Petplan 'Vet of the Year' award, an accolade that is truly fitting.
“I still love my job just as much as when I started in my first job in Tweeddale Street, Oban, Argyll, 35 years ago. My very first client thought I was a school girl seeing practice - I must have looked very young back then!
My passion for my job and my true vocation has never changed and I still get a real "buzz" when a case work -up goes well and I see a positive response to advised treatments. Yes , the job and the Veterinary industry has changed dramatically over the years ... however my work ethic and the clients and my patient's needs have not ... and I still try to give then all 110% ... I am looking forward to gradually easing back a bit with my work load looking towards retirement now .. Which hopefully will be a wee way off yet!!” says Alison.
So from all the team here at Crown Vets, congratulations on celebrating 35 years of being a vet, 16 of which we have been lucky enough to share with you, and here’s to many more!
