The Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant has now been awarded, after a really great response from Vet Nurses planning to volunteer over the next year.
We have now awarded the Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant of £500, and with so many fantastic applications for volunteering plans to fantastic charities it has been a very difficult decision. Due to the high number of applications we have, in fact, decided to award a second Grant, of £250 to the second best application, since it was such a close call on which application to choose.
So, the Grant of £500 has been awarded to Louise Ellerton, a VN who plans to volunteer this year at a small charity in Sri lanka, Home and Abroad Animal Welfare, where she will be working to improve animal health and welfare on the island. And, the second Grant of £250 goes to VN Emma Simmons who will be volunteering at The Tree of Life for Animals Hospital in India. Both projects will directly benefit many animals in need and both also help with education in the aim of improving animal welfare long term, so are really worthwhile causes that are great to be able to support through the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grants.
It is wonderful to see so many of our members making plans to go and spend their time volunteering for some really great animal welfare causes, and it is great to be able to support two of our members in their plans to use their nursing skills helping animals worldwide.
So, we’d like to wish both winners all the best with their plans and hope they have an amazing time in Sri Lanka and India, and we will bring an update from them after their trips to report back on the fantastic work the charities do too. We’d also like to thank everyone else who applied for the Grant, and apologies to those who have not been successful at this time. And to wish you all a fantastic time in all your volunteering plans this year!
