Two vet nurses are ‘on cloud nine’ after winning £250 Virgin Experience Days gift cards in a competition on Dechra’s stand at London Vet Show (LVS).

Carolann Muir an RVN from PDSA in Glasgow and Lana Thompson an RVN from Senlac Veterinary Centre in East Sussex beat off stiff competition to win the gift cards with over 500 people taking part in the prize draw competition.

Dechra’s stand at LVS focused on ‘embracing the zen’ and delegates were able to experience a moment of calm between sessions in the company’s relaxation zone and take a break from the hustle and bustle of LVS by enjoying some candy floss, while learning more about the innovative sedation solution, Zenalpha·.

Demonstrating its investment in educational initiatives to enhance best practice during consultations, Dechra sponsored one of the main programme sessions at LVS - ‘Why are the majority of dogs with Cushing’s disease poorly managed? Insights from team RVC’.  The session featured input from Dr Joe Fenn, senior lecturer in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at the RVC; Professor David Church, deputy principal and professor of small animal studies at the RVC and Dr Christopher Scudder, senior lecturer at the RVC.

Dechra hosted exclusive CPD during the event with sessions including round table panel discussions on ‘Feline enthusiasts assemble! How to help senior cats retain their superpowers’ which saw Dechra join forces with leading experts from the ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) and Vets Now Referrals to discuss why senior cat health checks are worthwhile to practices, owners and felines.

The company also hosted an hour-long session presented by Katarina Varjonen, lecturer at the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and board member of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology on ‘Nordic voices on antibiotics in otitis externa; a call for responsibility’.

“The London Vet Show was a fantastic opportunity for the Dechra team to highlight the key benefits of our ‘zennovation in sedation’, Zenalpha, while supporting best practice during consultations by sponsoring and hosting informative CPD sessions on Cushing’s, senior cat care and otitis externa,” comments Roddy Webster, country manager UK and ROI at Dechra.  “We would like to congratulate Carolann and Lana for winning the Virgin Experience Days gift cards and we look forward to hearing about their trips in due course.”
