A pioneering new platform which directly connects veterinary practices with locum professionals has announced incredible growth in the six months since its launch.

Ronda Vet, an innovative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, has started the new year by revealing more than 1,200 users across more than 80 practices have registered since it went live last summer.

The platform’s rapid uptake underscores a clear shift within an under-pressure veterinary sector, as practices and locums actively seek alternatives to the traditional, often-fragmented recruitment model.

Ronda Vet’s transparent system directly tackles the industry’s pain points such as agency costs, slow communication and the reactive ‘fire-fighting’, which often leaves practice teams overstretched and locums mismatched.

Ibra Hernando, an experienced veterinary surgeon and co-founder of Ronda Vet, said: “The response over these first six months has been incredible and validates everything we set out to achieve with Ronda.

“We’re seeing a real community forming. Practices are taking back control of their staffing, filling shifts in a matter of minutes, not days, while locums are building their reputations and finding work that better fits their skills and lives.

“It’s a win-win scenario which is translating into real-world efficiency and wellbeing benefits.”

Current market data highlights the critical need for Ronda Vet’s transformative solution to the pressing needs of both locums and vet surgeries across the UK.

With 65 per cent of vets and 15 per cent of vets and nurses working beyond their contracted hours (*SPVS 2024), reliable locum support is essential to protect surgery teams’ wellbeing and maintain clinical standards in an industry which has been under the microscope for some time due to the ongoing Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation.

Furthermore, with UK veterinary workforce supply projected to grow by 56 per cent by 2035 (*IBISWorld 2025) and persistent services inflation driving up costs, the economic argument for a direct, transparent platform has never been stronger.

Ronda Vet meets this need by enabling practices to post shifts instantly and locums to apply directly, 24/7. The platform’s unique mutual review system continues to build a trusted community where informed decisions raise standards for everyone.

“The 24/7 accessibility has been a game-changer for us,” commented one early adopter practice manager.

“Filling a last-minute weekend shift used to be a major stress. Now, we post it and often have a qualified, reviewed locum secured before we’ve even left the practice.”

Founded by Ibra and Dimitra Sepou, Ronda Vet was born from Ibra’s firsthand frustration with the inefficiencies on both sides of the locum market.

The platform’s team, which includes registered veterinary nurses, locum vets and practice managers, has ensured Ronda addresses real-world workflows.

“We didn’t just build a piece of software, we built a tool that makes it easier for practices and locums to work together with confidence,” added co-founder Dimitra Sepou.

“Seeing more than 70 practices and hundreds of professionals integrate Ronda into their daily operations within six months shows we got it right.

“As we enter 2026, we’re focused on growing this community and introducing new features to support the profession further.”

Ronda Vet is now actively inviting veterinary practices and locum professionals across the UK to join its growing community and experience its modern, streamlined and cost-effective approach to temporary staffing.
