The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) has announced a partnership with the Veterinary Business Academy of Romania (VBA) under which the associations will become learning partners. Among other benefits, VBA members will gain access to the VMG’s range of continuing professional development (CPD) and can apply for Associate membership of the VMG at preferential rates.

The VMG is the professional association for those in leadership and management roles in the UK veterinary sector. With ‘learning’ one of its three strategic priorities for 2021, the VMG is focussing on the development of 21st century leaders and managers for the veterinary sector through the creation of outstanding training and development. It has recently created a suite of modular courses leading to a Certificate and Diploma in Veterinary Leadership and Management and also offers a responsive and real-world CPD programme to its members.

The VBA was set up in 2017 by vet Dr Cristian Marinescu in order to create a veterinary business community in Romania and to increase the competency of veterinarians in areas such as people management, marketing and financial planning.

Georgina Hills, VMG Junior Vice President, said: “The VMG is keen to partner with global associations with similar values because we have the same end goals – healthy animals and happy, motivated veterinary teams.  We are delighted to form this partnership with the VBA and to share our resources with them.  Effective leadership and management are key to the success of veterinary businesses globally, especially as they start to emerge from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning and sharing collaboratively with colleagues and other associations is the best way to ensure global progress in the development of these important non-clinical skills.”

Dr Marinescu said: “Given the VMG’s experience in the business and people aspects of running a veterinary practice, we believe this partnership will help us to develop more quickly and offer a higher level of support to our members.  Vets in Romania are keen to develop non-clinical business skills and we will use the VMG’s resources to deliver dedicated training and resources to support them in the day to day running of their businesses.  It is an exciting partnership and brings to fruition the idea of a veterinary community without boundaries and supportive of diversity and inclusion.”

The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) is the professional association for all those in leadership and management roles in the veterinary sector.  Its mission is to inspire and empower veterinary leaders and their organisations to learn, share, and grow.
