A World Horse Welfare supporter who raised more than £2,000 after organising an ‘On Horses For Horses’ round the world challenge ride’ is now taking on an equally big task for our charity.
Loes Knopper, 45, from Kinlochleven in the Scottish Highlands successfully put together, and took part in, a unique challenge ride on Sunday 25 September 2011 in aid of World Horse Welfare, where 245 riders from 10 different countries rode a combined 3390.75 miles and raised £2280.15.
Now, Loes is hoping to get as many people as possible to organise their own riding events in another challenge ride to once again reach a combined riding total equalling the circumference of the earth. But this time they can hold their event at any time during September 2012. Loes goes on to explain: “Last year’s event was going to be a one-off but then I changed my mind and suddenly thought what a good idea it would be to take on the task again!
“I am inviting horse riders from all over the world to organise any events they like such as: - an Endurance ride, a fun hack out, a Le Trec event, a fancy dress ride, whatever they would like to do to get sponsorship.
“World Horse Welfare is such a wonderful charity and so I want to once again help raise its profile. I want to do anything I can to encourage people to help horses which aren’t lucky enough to receive the kind of care their own horses get.”
