The membership of XLVets has been further strengthened as Daleside Veterinary Group of Wrexham, becomes the latest practice to join the community of like-minded, autonomous, veterinary owned businesses.

Daleside are a mixed practice with three surgeries in Wrexham, Deeside and Penyffordd. They are a talented team of 21 vets; focussing on Small Animal care and Farm with a strong focus and specialism in Dairy Production and a large meat export department currently standing at 7 vets.  The practice has been under the current leadership for 9 years when the directors, Guy Tomlinson, Vanessa Griffiths and Paul Humble bought out the original partners.

Veterinary Owned Practice is thriving, given the right environment to do so and the right team at the helm. The team at Daleside recognise that the veterinary-owned practice model can be highly successful when you have a great team at the helm.  Vet and partner at Daleside Guy Tomlinson commented “We are proud to be an independent practice; this gives us control of own destiny and allows us to shape our own future. We want to be the local veterinary practice that is invested in the community, offering high quality service and a personal feel for the practice team and clients.”

“We are optimistic about the future of independent practice, led by demand from pet owners and farmers to have close contact with the owners and managers of the practice.”

Reflecting on the decision to take up membership, Vanessa Griffiths, commented “At times, running your own practice can be tough, and being part of a group of like-minded, proactive, independent practices within XLVets will provide a great support network, sharing ideas and training to help us move our business forward.”

“We will have improved buying power and access to clinical support and training for the whole practice team.  On our part, we hope to bring our forward thinking enthusiasm and staff-centred focus to the XLVet table and help other members maintain their optimism and avoid pitfalls we have encountered along the way!”

In a celebration of the strength of independent practice, XLVets CEO, Andrew Curwen commented “Veterinary professionals, like the team at Daleside, know what great practice is all about. The XLVet community, supported and served by XLVet UK Ltd, provides choice and opportunity for its members to retain their autonomy, their mastery of their destiny, their practice; their purpose: to practice their profession for the benefit of the animals under their care and to be the very best that they can be.”
