£1000 CPD Prizes To Celebrate A Year Of Excellence
To celebrate the first anniversary of XLVets Small Animal group, £1000 of CPD was up for grabs in two competitions at the London Vet Show [last week]. Heather Toft of Wern Vets, in Llanrwst, Gwynedd, whisked up first prize in the ‘Guess the weight of the giant cake’ competition, ‘beating’ over 150 entrants to the top prize of £500 worth of VetSkills CPD, whilst the steady hand of Sophie Hall, a Locum Vet from Pulborough, also won her the top prize in the ‘buzzy dog game’, says Small Animal Brand Manager, Ann Mottram of XLVets.
“XLVets Small Animal was officially launched at last year’s London Vet Show,” says Ann. “We wanted to mark our first anniversary with something fun but valuable to the winner, whilst representing what the membership is all about.
“VetSkills CPD is a key part of what we do. Our members work collaboratively to achieve excellence in client care via training and skills exchange, and VetSkills CPD has been developed as a central component of this, including our newly launched small animal graduate development programme,” she adds.
All visitors to the XL Small Animal stand were also asked to sign up to become Antibiotic Guardians via a national campaign launched within European Antibiotic Awareness Week (16-22 November). Public Health England (PHE) is leading the co-ordination of Antibiotic Awareness activities in England in collaboration with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Department of Health, devolved administrations, and other professional organisations, says Ann. “The campaign aims to help protect antibiotics and improve knowledge about antibiotic resistance,” she adds.
