Anderson Moores Launches Full-time ECC Service After Appointment Of Diplomate Adam Mugford
Leading veterinary referral centre Anderson Moores has launched a full-time emergency and critical care service after expanding its expert team.
Adam Mugford, a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and RCVS specialist in emergency and critical care, has joined the Linnaeus-owned animal hospital, which serves Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex and beyond.
Adam will be working alongside Anderson Moores’ specialist-led multidisciplinary team to enable the practice to provide a full-time critical care service. This will have a hugely beneficial impact on the care of the sickest inpatients.
Hospital director David Walker welcomed the appointment of Adam, saying: “We are delighted that Adam has joined the team at Anderson Moores and we look forward to working with him and benefitting from his experience and expertise in the discipline.
“Emergency and critical care is a pivotal offering and Adam’s arrival means we can provide even better care to the most critically ill patients at AMVS. Adam is working closely with all of our specialist-led services and he is already having a positive impact.”
Adam, who graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London, said: “I’m very excited to be joining the fantastic team at Anderson Moores and really looking forward to helping make a difference in terms of offering a full-time ECC service.”
Following his graduation from the RVC in 2007, Adam undertook an internship before spending two years in practice including sole charge night work. In 2013, Adam completed his residency in ECC, again at the RVC, becoming a diplomate the same year.
He was appointed an honorary lecturer of the University of Liverpool in 2014 and teaches and examines for advanced certification in ECC for a number of organisations.
Adam became an RCVS recognised specialist in emergency and critical care in 2015, before going on to become head of emergency and intensive care for four hospitals, overseeing standards of out-of-hours provision to 50-plus sites in and around London from 2013 to 2017.
He is the ECC representative to the RCVS practice standards group, is a member of the central organising committee for EVECC conference and member of the ACVECC education committee and vice-chair of a clinical advisory committee to 400 practices.
Adam’s clinical interests include all aspects of emergency and critical care but he has particular interests in trauma, sepsis, toxicology, renal disease, respiratory failure (including ventilation), transfusion medicine and CPR.
Anderson Moores offers specialist led care in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, oncology, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and dermatology.
