Study into the viability of Petscreen’s Advanced Lymphoma Blood Test for the monitoring of remission in canine lymphoma cases
Axiom Veterinary Laboratories are carrying out a study to assess the potential of Petscreen’s work with Acute Phase Proteins for monitoring remission in canine lymphoma patients.
Full details on how the test has been developed and the background into Petscreen’s work to date along with their conclusions are available from their website www.pet-screen.com; or you can contact them directly at [email protected] or 0115 912 4430.
Our study aims to validate their test and asses its ability to detect when a lymphoma patient is in and out of remission. Successful validation would give the Veterinary Surgeon, in general practice, a method of identifying relapse earlier then palpation alone and the potential to extend their patient’s lives.
As part of our study we are initially offering 100 patients 6 months of free remission monitoring using this method. Suitable patients would need to have cytologically or histologically confirmed lymphoma, and preferably not have received any treatment (including steroids). The process would involve testing a serum sample taken from the patient at week 0 followed by monthly tests to monitor the status of the animal.
Suitable patients for the trial would be dogs that have been diagnosed with lymphoma within 2 weeks of the first serum sample being taken.
If you have any patients who you would like to include in the trial or would like to discuss in more detail please contact Emma Dewhurst at Axiom on [email protected] or 01626 355655.3399 views
