British Veterinary Receptionist Association Launches 4th Annual Congress

British Veterinary Receptionist Association

British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) Congress is the only congress specifically for the veterinary receptionist community. This year’s event is taking place at Jurys Inn Hinckley Island in Leicestershire from 30th September to 1st October. Tickets are available at and delegates are encouraged to book before the end of April to take advantage of discounted early-bird rates. With over 6000 active members across the UK, the BVRA has experienced fantastic growth and has also established the first registry of Registered Veterinary Receptionists (RVRs). Its congress has been growing year on year and is a hotly anticipated event in the veterinary calendar.

BVRA Congress 2022 offers an exciting and varied programme of speakers tailored to provide useful insight and professional development for veterinary receptionists. This year’s event will cover topics such as pet poisons, triage, sustainability, nutrition, developing your personal brand and pet insurance. Jade Statt MRCVS from StreetVet is the keynote speaker for the conference and Vet Yogi and Vet Fit will also be running sessions to keep energy levels high. At £200 for members for two days of CPD – and just £160 at the early bird rate – the congress is highly affordable and represents a great return on investment.

Co-founder of the BVRA, Kay Watson-Bray says, “Congress 2021 was an overwhelming success, with fantastic feedback from delegates. It was one of the first in-person events after the isolation of lockdowns and veterinary receptionists relished the opportunity to meet up, support, share experiences and learn together.”

Kay points out that empowering front of house staff through continued learning, helps to unify practice teams and ultimately improves patient care and client satisfaction. “First impressions count and can take as little as seven seconds to be formed so having highly valued, knowledgeable staff at the front desk is crucial in building valuable client relationships.” 

After the challenges of the last couple of years, which have impacted on the whole practice team, receptionists can also look forward to a congress dinner and social event on the Friday night.
