Coventry based Broad Lane Vets are proud to be celebrating 50 years of independent practice. Established by Roy Hands in 1969, 95-year-old Roy will be guest of honour at the practice’s 50th birthday party celebrations!
A family run practice, Roy was joined by his sister Hazel soon after the launch of Broad Lane Vets; Hazel remained as Head receptionist until her retirement in 2009. The successful practice soon expanded, with Radford (North Coventry) branch opening in the early seventies. Roy’s son Roger took the reins from his father in 1994 and added the Balsall Common (West of Coventry) branch in 2001.
In 2001 Elly Pittaway BVSc MRCVS also joined the practice, taking on sole ownership in 2008. Elly is justifiably proud of the achievements of the practice and its dedicated team and is looking forward to welcoming past and present staff to the 50-year anniversary celebration party.
“We have several vets undertaking Certificates in various areas, and our nursing and reception teams are encouraged to pursue further qualifications and development opportunities. We've won several awards over the years, for enterprise and best small business locally, as well as a national award for our flexible working practices” said Elly. “We're proud to remain independent, with our team of 60 staff being well-engaged at all levels. They are key to our success and in continually driving the practice forwards. Here's to the next 50 years!” she added.
