For delegates wishing to get their cardiology fix during the London Vet Show (LVS), look no further than Ceva Animal Health’s cardiology programme which takes place in Gallery Suite 17 on the morning of Thursday 14th November.

The sessions feature esteemed, international veterinary cardiologist, Dr Darcy Adin DVM DACVIM (Cardiology), Clinical Associate Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida and Dr Emily Dutton, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology and Director of Cheshire Cardiology.

The morning begins at 9.00am with Dr Dutton’s lecture on ‘Failing felines and dyspnoeic dogs.  Assessing the cardiac patient’.  It will focus on game changers in heart failure diagnosis and cover the diagnosis and monitoring of heart failure in primary practice using simple tools available to veterinary practitioners and owners.  There will be a range of interactive, clinical scenarios to provide delegates with an update on how to practically approach dogs and cats with cardiorespiratory signs in primary practice.

This will be followed at 10.15am with Dr Adin’s lecture on ‘Advances in medical management of heart failure in dogs: make sure ‘urine’ the know!’.  This lecture will cover new research in the area of congestive heart failure (CHF) including degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and the medical approaches to dogs with heart disease and CHF.  This will include the use of diuretics, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone inhibitors, pimobendan, and additional therapies. ‘Pearls’ from advancing research will be discussed, with emphasis on practical application on the clinic floor.

To celebrate the launch of Ceva’s innovative, new, once-a-day diuretic for the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs, Isemid, the company will be running an ‘Ask the Expert’ session on its stand (stand C30) at 3pm on Thursday 14 November.  The ‘Ask the Expert’ session will enable delegates to discuss cases and all things cardiology with Ceva’s international cardiology speaker panel featuring Dr Dutton and Dr Adin.  It will be followed by a drinks’ reception between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on the stand.

Suzanne Page BVSc MRCVS, cardiology, nephrology and hypertension product manager at Ceva Animal Health, comments: “We are delighted to showcase our new diuretic, Isemid, by bringing together the esteemed veterinary cardiologists, Dr Dutton and Dr Adin, to provide extensive cardiology content on the first day of LVS.”
