Ceva Launches DOUXO S3 Range An Innovation In Derma-topical Products

Ceva Animal Health has launched a new and innovative range of skincare products called DOUXO S3.
The core DOUXO values remain in DOUXO S3: effective support of the skin barrier, improved owner compliance and four simple solutions with DOUXO S3 CALM, SEB, PYO & CARE.
DOUXO S3 has been developed with pet owners. Four market research studies1 revealed that owners have two major concerns: efficacy on the three skin barriers and a high safety (tolerance) for pets and users, ensuring only the essential ingredients are used. The launch of DOUXO S3 has addressed these concerns head on.
Designed to be well tolerated by dogs, cats and their owners, the DOUXO S3 range features a new active ingredient - ophytrium - a purified natural ingredient from Ophiopogon japonicus which has a simultaneous threefold action; ophytrium has been shown to strengthen the mechanical skin barrier2, restore the balance of protective microbial flora4 and reduce irritation, while soothing the skin2. Ophytrium was chosen from 250 candidate ingredients following four years of extensive research.
The new range consists of both shampoo and mousse formulations. DOUXO S3 CALM soothes itchy, irritated skin while maintaining the skin barrier. It includes a high concentration of ophytrium which does all the work and is efficient on the three skin barriers. DOUXO S3 PYO contains ophytrium and chlorhexidine at 3% which is both antibacterial and antifungal (tough on bugs gentle on skin). DOUXO S3 SEB features ophytrium and seboliance and includes the natural extract from the peel of Punica granatum (pomegranate). It has an anti-odour action and will help with oily or flaky skin. Lastly, DOUXO S3 CARE contains ophytrium and is ultra gentle for regular use and maintenance (this is available as a shampoo only).
The products are free from soap, parabens, sulphates, phthalates, colourants and nanoparticles. A new, hypoallergenic ‘summertime’ fragrance has been added to the range which pet owners liken to coconut and vanilla.
The DOUXO S3 range comes in eye-catching, new packaging featuring an easy-to-use pump which can be used with one hand; an ergonomic bottle facilitating the grip, even with wet hands; a visibility line to enable pet owners to see the remaining quantity of the product and a stable base, ensuring that the bottle is easy to put down.
DOUXO S3 shampoo and mousses will automatically replace the current DOUXO products via veterinary wholesalers and Ceva is working to convert other products in the DOUXO range to S3; these will continue to be produced in their original forms until they are developed into S3.
S3 represents the innovation and stands for ‘safe’, ‘skincare’ and ‘selection’. DOUXO S3 is ‘safe’ as it is proven to be well tolerated on both normal and irritated skin3. ‘Skincare’ stands for proven efficacy on the three skin barriers while the new bottles and formulations ensure customer satisfaction. Lastly, ‘selection’ demonstrates that Ceva has ‘selected’ an innovative, new active ingredient and it has simplified the range to make product selection easier.

The DOUXO S3 range was showcased at the recent Ceva pre-congress symposium at the European Dermatology Congress organised by ESVD-ECVD (European Society of Veterinary Dermatology and European College of Veterinary Dermatology) in Liverpool in September 2019. Two hundred and fifty delegates attended the symposium which included presentations from leading key opinion leaders.
Commenting on the launch of the DOUXO S3 range, Dr Tim Nuttall BSc BVSc CertVD PhD CBiol MSB MRCVS, RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology and Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Dermatology at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, says: “I like that the performance has been proven on a basic science screening level and innovative skin model and then moving on to the in-field trials.
