The clinical director at a Solihull animal hospital has completed two marathons in one month to raise money for a dog charity that helps deaf people.
Deborah Hope, clinical director at Linnaeus-owned 608 Vet Practice, which has surgeries in Solihull, Bentley Heath and Acocks Green, finished the Paris Marathon on April 2 in 4 hr 17 mins.
Not content with that, Deborah then put on her running shoes for the London Marathon and completed the historic course in 4 hr 10mins.
Her incredible achievement of running two marathons in just a few weeks has raised £570 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Deborah said: “I’m back to double marathons again and this time it’s for one of my favourite charities, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
“The charity does incredible work by training dogs to alert deaf people to important and lifesaving sounds. Being aware of these sounds, such as a smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry, can make a real difference to deaf people’s lives, possibly even saving them.”
Deborah’s double marathon efforts saw her passing near some of the most famous landmarks in the world, including Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Élysées.
Deborah added: “It was great to take part in two of the most famous marathons in the world. There was a great atmosphere at both events and a real comradery among the runners, all running for their own special reasons.”
