Elanco Explores What Matters Most To Veterinary Practices At Partner Event
Elanco Animal Health recently held a ‘partner event’ in Windsor to explore the issues currently affecting UK veterinary practices. Attended by 29 veterinary professionals from 17 veterinary practices, feedback was gathered leading up to the event to ensure that the content of the two-day meeting focused on the key concerns of veterinary professionals in the current market. Key themes emerged including: managing large teams and HR resources within growing businesses; finance and how to compete in a competitive market; marketing, social media and technology.
Featuring presentations by one of the leading global experts in practice management, Dr Ernie Ward from the USA, topics covered off consisted of ‘why clients come to you’, ‘how to compete in an increasingly competitive market’, the power of recommendation in preventative healthcare’ and ‘the future of independent vet practices’. Ernie challenged the status quo with a boundless energy, provoking and encouraging discussion around the need to evolve to keep pace or even lead a changing market place.
On the second day of the meeting, delegates were given the opportunity to tour Elanco’s parent company Eli Lilly’s Erl Wood research and development facility to provide an overview of how Elanco’s research department operates, learn more about the company culture and the team behind it and gain an insight into what the future might bring from this newly emerging manufacturer.
One delegate who attended the meeting was Julie Eastham RVN, deputy practice manager at The Cromwell Veterinary Group, Cambridgeshire, who commented: “Thank you Elanco for organising a fabulous, thought provoking event. It is great to get together with likeminded progressive practices to discuss further the challenges the veterinary profession is up against, and help us look from the day-to-day challenges to the future challenges ahead. Ernie Ward is certainly a torch bearer for the future of veterinary business. His energy and passion for the veterinary industry is simply infectious! I can’t stop asking the ‘Why’ question now!!”
