A top veterinary referral centre in Scotland now boasts three small animal surgery specialists as part of its expert soft tissue team.

Jo McCagherty has recently passed ECVS exams to become recognised as a European diplomate and joins existing specialists Sam Woods and Karla Lee at Linnaeus-owned Veterinary Specialists Scotland (VSS) in Livingston.

Jo’s exam success further boosts the impressive care and treatment VSS provides for patients with soft tissue conditions and injuries.

Jo, who graduated from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in 2011 and joined VSS last year, said: “I’m delighted that all the hard work has paid off and I’ve now achieved specialist status.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to provide the highest level of care possible, along with my fellow soft tissue surgeons, keeping VSS at the forefront of delivering exceptional care to our patients.

“I enjoy all aspects of soft tissue surgery and have a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, thoracic surgery and surgical oncology.”

Clinical director Sam added: “Many congratulations to Jo for her ECVS exam success from everyone here at Veterinary Specialists Scotland.

“We are focused on delivering an individually-tailored treatment plan for every referred patient, so it is a real advantage for us to be able to offer such expertise in such an important area of veterinary medicine.

“Having a specialist-led team, allied to our state-of-the-art facilities, means we are able to deal with the most serious and challenging cases from all over Scotland and the north of England.”

VSS is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral centre offering industry-leading services in cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine (feline and canine), neurology, orthopaedics, and soft tissue surgery, supported by specialists in diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia and analgesia.
