Huntingdon based equine practice, Fellowes Farm Equine Clinic, has joined the established XLEquine group. The 35 strong group was established from existing members of the XLVets model.
Matthew Tong, director at Fellowes Farm believes that that the potential mutual benefits of being formally aligned with like-minded practices in an organisation like XLEquine is enormous and exciting: “We keep our clients bonded through the provision of a first class service, proactive interaction via client education, CPD and social media.
“We strive to run and grow our business profitably, ethically and efficiently and we feel the synergistic effect of joining XLEquine will benefit us to do these things even better,” says Mr Tong.
Dr Batson is delighted that such a forward thinking proactive practice has joined the group. “As our XLEquine team continues to develop and we work collaboratively to deliver excellence in practice, the business model provides both its members and their clients with all the benefits of scale and access to professional expertise, along with the independence provided by private practice. It’s a win win for everyone!” says Dr Batson.
The nine vet Fellowes Farm Equine Clinic has been established for 25 years and provides first opinion and referral equine veterinary services. “Their ambulatory first opinion equine practice provides 24 hour veterinary care to animals within their catchment area and the team of experienced equine veterinary surgeons are able to provide first class care to animals,” says Dr Batson. The practice has mobile digital x-ray, ultrasound, scopes and shockwave to help with diagnosis and treatment at the client’s premises.
“The clinic is led by director David Rutherford who has a particular interest in lameness and surgery, especially regenerative therapies and standing surgeries. The very capable nursing team is headed by a qualified equine veterinary nurse. They are well-equipped clinic with full surgical facilities, a gamma-scintigraphy suite, digital radiography and a comprehensive on-site laboratory,” she concludes.
