The first ten graduates took up employment in September 2014, now Independent Vet Care have announced plans for their unique New Graduate Academy to expand significantly for the 2015-2016 academic year and beyond.
David Hiller, Chief Executive of IVC, explains the genuine and long-term commitment that the group has to this exciting project. "We want to attract the best vets to IVC - a key part of that is bringing in enthusiastic new graduates, and so we designed our New Graduate Academy to deliver a generous package of support to motivate and develop these ambitious and talented young vets. Research commissioned with Onswitch highlighted that the top two motivating factors for new graduates are to have a clinical mentor (mentioned by 78%) and for surgical support for routine procedures (68%). The New Graduate Academy delivers both these key components, along with a generous CPD budget offering a minimum of 12 days training in a wide range of medical, surgical, personal development and business areas in the first year. In addition we provide an attractive remuneration package with a salary of £24,000 as well as a £5,000 bursary, 33 days annual leave and RCVS membership."
Darren Mackintosh, Senior Business Support Manager with the group added: "We want to help young vets starting out in their careers make the transition from students to vets, and ultimately to business owners. We're proud of the hard work that we've put into shaping the New Graduate Academy around the needs of today's new vets, and we aim to build long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships with them. We view the New Graduate Academy as only the first stage of the journey, and from their feedback, it appears that our current intake are universally excited about their future with IVC."
Applications are now invited for the 2015-16 academic year. A brochure and application form can be downloaded from www.independentvetcare.co.uk.
