A leading West Midlands veterinary referral centre has headed Stateside to recruit a leading specialist in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC).

New arrival Ludivine Boiron has crossed the Atlantic Ocean to join the expert team at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service, in Solihull, to boost their service provision.

Ludivine, who graduated in 2008, has just completed a three-year residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA.

She has now jetted in to the UK to take up her role at Willows, saying: “I’m really enjoying working as part of a great team and working with the various different disciplines here.

“I’m passionate about my ECC speciality and I have a keen interest in respiratory diseases, trauma and acid base disturbances.

“I also like teaching and being updated about the most recent studies in ECC to ensure I can deliver the most up-to-date care possible for our patients.”

Ludivine was born in France and originally studied at her home town university in Lyon, progressing to a rotating internship there after graduation.

It was there she developed her great interest in Emergency and Critical Care medicine, in her own words “thriving amid the day by day challenge this specialty brings”.

In 2012, Ludivine worked as an emergency veterinary surgeon in several general practices across France and Switzerland, before moving to the United States in 2014 to see how ECC medicine was practiced overseas.

First, she undertook an ECC internship at the University of California, followed by a three-year residency at the University of Pennsylvania.

Away from work, Ludivine enjoys horse riding, running, work-outs and practising her skiing in the French Alps.  She also has two dogs Dalhi her Golden Retriever and Baya her German Shepherd.
