More than 540 Associates across Linnaeus, one of the UK’s largest veterinary groups, nominated a colleague at this year’s Achievement Awards, which was held on 27 January.

The winners represent a range of practices and departments across Linnaeus, which employs around 5,000 Associates in the UK and Ireland.

The outstanding performance award was given to Ellie West, the group’s environmental sustainability lead. She is also an RCVS and EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at Linnaeus-owned Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire.

Ellie was recognised for her dedication to promoting and driving sustainability across Linnaeus, as well as her focus on high-quality work and collaborative approach. She was shortlisted alongside Felipe Grados, veterinary surgeon at Wear Referrals, and Rachel Mowbray, Clinical Director at Leadon Vale Veterinary Centre.

Alongside Ellie, six further winners were announced with the categories all aligned to the Mars Five Principles, as Mars owns Linnaeus. During the ceremony, presenter Stephen Mulhern announced the following winners:

Saskia Connell, P&O (People & Organisation) Director at Linnaeus, said:

“Ellie is a very worthy winner of our Outstanding Performance award and has accomplished so much this year. I must also congratulate our other nominees and winners, who have all done a fantastic job in the past 12 months.

“The sheer volume of nominees for the awards not only reflects the amazing work of our Associates, but also the support of their peers. More than 540 Associates have taken the time to recognise a colleague. The Achievement Awards has reflected the team spirit of our Associates, as well as their accomplishments.”

In addition to the Achievement Awards, Ellie and Sophie Venables – who is a Veterinary Nursing Post Registration Programme Manager at Linnaeus – have been nominated for the Mars Make the Difference awards. The global recognition programme celebrates Associates who have lived the Mars culture and delivered extraordinary impact, bringing us closer to our Purpose: the world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today. The next ceremony is set to take place in October 2022.
