London International Horse Show Proving A Sound Choice For New BEVA CPD Courses

Places are filling up fast for both of BEVA’s new professional CPD days at ExCeL London, which coincides with the first two full days of the London International Horse Show on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th December 2023.
The new initiative combines the excitement of the equestrian world’s favourite Christmas extravaganza with outstanding professional development. The focus for this first year’s CPD is the complicated nature of unsoundness and how teamwork can help horses keep performing at their best.
DAY 1 Unravelling unsoundness: How to approach, understand and manage a complex case:
This course will be built around a fictional clinical scenario and will help delegates develop a structure for approaching complex cases, a way of interpreting how the pieces of the puzzle fit together, and an understanding of some management techniques which can be utilised when facilities or funds are limited.
The programme will feature performance horse clinician and veterinary lead for London 2012 and Rio 2016, Liz Brown; renowned researcher, sport horse clinician and BEF team member, Rachel Murray; physiotherapists, Lee Clark, who is completing a PhD on rider position, and Anna Johnson, also a veteran of numerous Olympic and World Championship support teams.
DAY 2: Championing Soundness: Unlocking lessons from elite sport
This course aims to highlight the benefits of a collaborative approach to maintaining performance and to demonstrate how cutting-edge management can be applied at all levels of horse sport. Using discussion, debate, and delegate engagement, rather than lectures, elite team members will explain how they work together to optimise equine performance at the highest level.
In the morning, Ben Benson, Master Farrier, a veteran of Olympic support teams and the BEF’s World Class Programme, will join performance horse vet Sam Cutts, who breeds and produces her own eventers, and Annabelle Galt, a veterinary physiotherapist, clinical educator, and event rider, to discuss their team approach to multilimbed lameness cases.
After lunch, physiotherapist to the British Teams for Dressage, Showjumping and Eventing, Rachel Greetham, and Master Saddler Mark Fisher, who works on the BEF’s World Class Programme will join renowned researcher, sport horse clinician and fellow BEF support team member, Rachel Murray, to discuss how they manage back pain in top equine athletes.

The London International Horse Show is offering a 25% discount on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tickets purchased or the Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon performances and a 20% discount will be available on the Thursday evening performance.
Course prices are £245 for BEVA members, RAMP and ACPAT members and £490 for non-members.
