A South London vet practice is celebrating after marking more than 100 years of combined nursing service which has also seen team members make significant advances in their careers.
The remarkable achievement at Linnaeus-owned Maven Vets in North Cheam is testament to the great team spirit at the veterinary practice and an innovative group-wide nursing structure which offers support and career development opportunities to team members.
The combined years of nursing service at Maven Vets now stands at 107 years. The award-winning practice also has a significant number of associates who have made big steps forward in their chosen careers.
Among them are Jade Prior, who has progressed from student veterinary nurse to now being interim clinical nursing manager; Georgia Stride, who started as a veterinary nurse and is now anaesthesia lead; and Anneke Kuipers, who has progressed from veterinary nurse to lead consulting nurse.
Meanwhile, Katie Haysom, who started at student veterinary nurse is now a senior veterinary nurse; Nicola Kerkhoff has progressed from being head nurse to practice manger; Georgina Bradley-Warren started as a veterinary nurse and moved up to deputy head nurse before returning from maternity leave to take on the role of lead mentor for the patient care assistants.
Alice Boyle, a patient care assistant at Maven, was also appointed to the Linnaeus clinical board at the end of last year, showing the group’s commitment to sharing best practice across roles.
Jade said: “I feel the Linnaeus nursing structure has helped our veterinary nurses to progress into lead nurses. Having the opportunity to grow and expand within Maven Vets has helped those new to leadership be able to do this in a comfortable and supportive environment.
“It has also helped our entire nursing team as each area has been developed in a way that supports our nurses in doing their jobs to the best of their abilities.”
Meanwhile, Alice said of her appointment to the Linnaeus clinical board: “It is a valuable opportunity to progress and develop in my role by learning from others while sharing my experiences, too.”
