The new clinical director at one of Surrey’s leading veterinary practices is pledging a compassionate, open and educational experience for pet owners across the county.

Linnaeus-owned Alder Veterinary Practice, in Guildford, has appointed experienced veterinary surgeon Aiz Baig to lead its expert clinical team.

Aiz says his aim is to ensure every pet receives the finest treatment and their owners the very best support and advice.

He said: “My approach to veterinary care involves compassionate and thorough medical consultations.

“This involves actively listening to clients’ concerns, addressing their questions and creating tailored treatment plans that meet both the animal’s medical needs and the owner’s emotional requirements.

“In my career I’ve diagnosed and treated a wide spectrum of medical conditions in companion animals, employing advanced diagnostic tools such as radiography, ultrasound, and lab tests to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.”

This important, new role will also see Aiz take on the responsibility of the smooth operation of the talented team of vets and vet nurses.

He explained: “As clinical director, my primary role revolves around overseeing the clinical activities and performance of the veterinary practice.

“I eagerly anticipate leading and inspiring my clinical team, optimising their skills and fostering a collaborative environment, together with driving continuous improvement, promoting clinical research, and maintaining a culture of mentorship.

“Cultivating a positive practice culture, emphasising open communication, respect, and a commitment to excellence, benefitting patients, clients, and the Linnaeus group, is something I am looking forward to.

“I will lead by example, fostering teamwork and ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of patient and client care.

“In essence, I am dedicated to upholding excellence, innovation, and a positive practice culture to benefit patients, clients, colleagues and Linnaeus.”

Aiz will be keenly involved in upholding the highest standards of care and embracing the latest advances in treatment and technology.

He added: “My responsibilities also encompass setting and executing clinical and business strategies, promoting engagement in clinical research, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards.

“Being involved in setting strategic direction and financial planning aligns perfectly with my passion for innovation.”

Aiz is also using his key leadership skills outside of work, in a voluntary role as an instructor with the Sea Cadets.

He said: “As a civilian instructor for the Sea Cadets, my role is pivotal in youth development.

“I provide guidance, training, and support to cadets, assisting them in acquiring nautical and life skills.

“I assist in delivering maritime education and adventure, empowering young cadets to become confident and responsible citizens with a solid grounding in maritime knowledge and values.”
