A top Devon primary care vet practice is throwing open its doors for one day only so pet owners can meet the team and view its first-class facilities.

The fun-packed afternoon takes place at Linnaeus-owned City Vets’ Heavitree Hospital on Saturday, June 17, between 2pm and 5pm, and will see plenty of activities on offer, plus a starring role by Guide Dogs.

There will also be the opportunity to tour the practice’s recently completed £350,000 extension and see its new £125,000 state-of-the-art CT scanner in action.

For the youngsters, there will be a children’s table with colouring and ‘guess how old the tortoise is’ contest, while cat lovers can learn more from the Cats Protection League, who will have information regarding neutering, microchipping and rehoming.

City Vets also supports Guide Dogs and there will be three guide dogs to meet on the day, one who is fully trained and two who are being taken through their training.

Glenda Webb, dog care and welfare advisor at Guide Dogs, said: “We are delighted to be associated with City Vets and feel we both benefit from the close working relationship formed over many years.

“The addition of the new CT scanner increases the diagnostic capabilities which will further benefit the dogs we have under their excellent care.”

There’s also a microchip amnesty between 2pm and 4pm where cats will be microchipped for a discounted rate. For more information and to book in, please email [email protected].

In addition, refreshments will be served, including tea, coffee, squash and cakes, and there will be a raffle.
