Paragon Veterinary Referrals Welcomes European Small Animal Surgery Specialist Lizzy Conway
An award-winning Yorkshire animal hospital has welcomed a new European specialist in small animal internal medicine to its growing team.
Lizzy Conway has joined Linnaeus-owned Paragon Veterinary Referrals, in Wakefield, from the University of Glasgow, where she completed a residency and a masters in veterinary medicine.
Lizzy qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2012 and spent 18 months in general practice in Norfolk, before completing a rotating internship at fellow Linnaeus practice Dick White Referrals.
She returned to work as an internal medic at a primary care practice in Gloucestershire, before starting her residency in internal medicine at the University of Glasgow in 2016. She was awarded her European diploma in small animal internal medicine in 2021.
Lizzy also completed a masters in veterinary medicine while at Glasgow, which looked at biomarkers in dogs with conditions predisposing to thrombosis.
Lizzy said: “I am delighted to be joining Paragon and I am looking forward to working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best possible care to my patients.
“I have a particular clinical interest in immune mediated conditions and in haemostatic and thrombotic disorders.
“Outside of work, I enjoy hill walking and, having just moved down here from Scotland, I am looking forward to exploring the Yorkshire countryside.”
Paragon, which opened its doors four years ago, now has 11 specialists in its team – two in internal medicine; two in anaesthesia and analgesia and one each in cardiology; neurology; oncology; ophthalmology; orthopaedics; soft tissue surgery and ECC.
Sophie Adamantos, clinical director at Paragon Veterinary Referrals, said: “Our team has worked exceptionally hard to deal with the huge demand for our services we’ve seen since the start of the pandemic, so we’re delighted to be welcoming another high-quality clinician in Lizzy to further improve our service to referring vets and patients.”
Paragon provides multi-disciplinary small animal care including anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery.
