ParvoAlert has announced that it will continue to sponsor the PupAid Fun Dog Show for the third year running. Taking place on Primrose Hill in London on Saturday 5 September 2015, the dog show is the annual flagship event of PupAid, the campaign run by TV vet Marc Abraham to highlight and ban puppy farming in the UK.

Founded by Virbac, ParvoAlert is a free social-media based service, which seeks to raise awareness of canine parvovirus among both vets and pets owners.  ParvoAlert has almost 8,000 'likes' on Facebook, with a recent post reach of nearly 40,000, and a strong presence on Twitter (@Parvoalert).  Dog owners and staff from veterinary practices report cases to the sites using the first half of the postcode and town where it occurred, along with a few details such as age and vaccination status, and where they may exercise.  ParvoAlert then shares this information to increase awareness of parvovirus.  Virbac sends a 'ParvoAlert' pack to every veterinary practice in the area, with a range of support materials to help them alert clients and other owners in the area.

Commenting on ParvoAlert's support, Marc Abraham said:  "On behalf of my PupAid team, we’re thrilled once again to have the generous support of ParvoAlert. PupAid is all about working together to raise awareness of the UK’s cruel puppy farming industry, as well as promoting responsible breeding and rescue pet adoption.  Parvovirus is one of the most common and preventable killers of dogs so the phenomenal work Virbac and ParvoAlert do to help all dog owners is absolutely priceless – and of course life-saving!"

Sarah Walker, Product Manager at Virbac, who oversees ParvoAlert, said:  "Parvovirus is a real problem for which we are trying to raise awareness with our free service.  It is particularly prevalent amongst puppies that are raised in more unhygienic conditions, especially if they are not vaccinated.  We are determined to raise awareness to dog owners of the devastating impact of the disease and to remind owners to stay alert, take sensible precautions and the best way to protect their dogs is to vaccinate them."

The PupAid Fun Dog Show is an annual fixture in the dog lovers’ calendar and an opportunity to educate and increase awareness amongst dog owners.

Virbac offers Virbagen Omega ®, the only veterinary interferon based treatment for canine parvovirus, which has been shown to reduce mortality with supportive care to less than 3% in unvaccinated dogs.  It sits alongside the Canigen vaccine range and Speed Parvo FC ® – a rapid in-house diagnostic test for parvovirus.

Founded by a veterinary surgeon, Virbac is dedicated to supporting the veterinary profession through the development of innovative products and services, which help animals to lead longer, healthier lives.  One of the largest independent veterinary pharmaceutical companies in the world, its wide product portfolio includes many market-leading and award-winning products for large and small animals.

It has recently launched Virtual Virbac, a pioneering, interactive communications portal to keep practices up to date with the latest information on Virbac products.  By scanning the Virtual Virbac image using the free Blippar app on a smart device, the image 'comes to life', enabling veterinary professionals to interact with a range of clinical and support information on key Virbac products.
