Petplans Online Immediate Veterinary Cover Transforms Practices

Petplan provides practices with the ability to set up Immediate Veterinary Cover (IVC) online, meaning it’s speedy and straightforward for staff to activate four weeks’ free insurance for all of their clients, without needing to rely on the post.
Appointed Representative (AR) Practices can issue four weeks’ free insurance using the IVC tool, found on Petplan’s dedicated vet website, petplanvet.co.uk. This provides immediate cover for illness and injury and can be issued to puppies, kittens and rabbits aged from six weeks to one year, following a veterinary health check. It’s quick and easy to activate online and there is no obligation for the client to buy a full policy; regardless, conversion rates are high.
Veterinary staff prefer that all their clients are insured to make sure their pets can be treated quickly when they are ill and Petplan want to make the process as simple as possible. When policies are activated online, Petplan can communicate with policy holders more efficiently, resulting in well-looked after and well-informed customers.
Cross Green Vets in North Yorkshire are a great example of a practice eager to start using the online IVC tool, but were unable to do so due not having a computer. Rather than continue with paper IVCs, they decided to use their Portfolio Reward points, Petplan’s rewards programme for setting up four weeks’ free insurance, to purchase an iPad specifically for issuing IVCs online.
Once customers have signed up, their four week’s free is immediately activated and a confirmation email is sent negating the need to wait for the policy to arrive in the post.
Petplan has been training practice staff on the new system, with great results and positive feedback, with over 60% of practices now activating cover online.. Michelle Agius from Llanrumney Vets4Pets says that the new, online process is ‘quicker, easier and a real time saver’.
