One of London’s leading veterinary centres has received a prestigious silver award for its high quality care of cats.

Linnaeus-owned London Vet Specialists located in Belsize Park has been recognised by the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM), an international charity dedicated to the wellbeing of cats.

It’s a fitting reward for the LVS team, which is committed to offering the highest standards of care and has put in place a series of measures to ensure all of their cat patients receive the finest treatment.

Vet nurse Scarlett Dean, who’s the cat advocate at LVS, explained: “I am delighted that London Vet Specialists have achieved silver status from ISFM, as an endorsement of our commitment to our feline patients.

“Our team has been trained in cat friendly handling techniques and is dedicated to ensuring our feline patients have a positive experience from the moment they enter the practice.

“We have also introduced other measures to minimise stress for our hospitalised cats, such as, purposefully designed cat hides, visual barriers in our reception area including carrier covers and a cat basket bench with pheromonal calming aids also available.

“It has been thoroughly rewarding as the LVS cat advocate to have achieved this accreditation and witness the benefits this brings to our patients every day.”

LVS Head of Nursing Services Ryan Kavanagh praised Scarlett for her dedication and highlighted future plans for a brand new 12,000 sq ft hospital with even better facilities for feline patients.

Ryan added: “I am thrilled that LVS has achieved silver cat-friendly status with ISFM thanks to the dedication of our internal medicine RVN and cat advocate, Scarlett.

“We now look forward to building on this by achieving gold status with our move into our new purpose built hospital site in Hammersmith next year.

“Our cat patients were considered in every step of the design of the development, and we particularly look forward to utilising our cat-only waiting area, consult rooms and ward to ensure that we provide the most appropriate experience and quality care to each of our feline patients.”
