Veterinary Management Group Seeks New Directors
The Veterinary Management Group (VMG), the UK’s lead education, support and representative body for veterinary professionals working in leadership or management roles, has issued a call for new directors to join its board.
The current board, headed by new President Mrs Gillian Page BSc RVN, Cert B&PS, has nine members following the retirement of three long-standing directors, so the VMG is looking for new members to help lead its work to support the personal and professional development of its c1,000 members.
Serving on the VMG board involves attending quarterly meetings, a strategy planning away day and its annual congress each January. More experienced members may be invited to take on additional roles as committee chairs or working party members. Applicants are required to be VMG members and to be working in a leadership or management role in veterinary practice or a related business.
Gillian Page said: “The VMG board is small and tightly focused, enabling each member to influence our strategy and direction. We are entering a new and exciting phase of our development and are seeking the experience and expertise of individuals with a passion for veterinary leadership and management to help us widen our appeal, reach and membership. Experience in marketing is of particular value to us but we are also interested in adding other skills and experience to the team.”
Individuals interested in applying are asked to submit a written statement, summarising in not more than 300 words why they wish to be considered and outlining relevant experience and their proposed contribution. It should be sent to [email protected] by 28 February 2019. Being a board member offers no remuneration other than personal expenses.
The VMG is the lead representative body for veterinary professionals working in leadership and management roles within veterinary practice. It provides training, promotes best practice and lobbies on a range of practice management issues. It also offers a forum in which managers and others in a lead role within practice can learn, collaborate and network with colleagues across the UK.
