The UK’s leading Out Of Hours dedicated emergency veterinary care provider, Vets Now, has won the ‘Excellence in Skills and Learning’ category at the prestigious Fife Business Awards, hosted by Scottish Enterprise. The accolade, which will see the company go through to the Enterprising Scotland Business Awards in June, recognises Vets Now’s dedication to developing and training staff to foster life-long learning and professional excellence. This, in turn, enables the company to deliver excellent clinical and client care. Its innovative and forward-thinking training initiatives include a client care training programme for vets, vet nurses and receptionists to ensure that staff at all levels are confident and happy in dealing with the many sensitive issues encountered by emergency and critical care veterinary professionals. The scheme, which allows employees to work towards a BTEC award, is just one of the many training initiatives run by Vets Now. Additional educational schemes available through the company include the revolutionary On Site Training Programme (OSTP) which offers hands-on training in emergency and critical care medicine. Further training consists of regional CPD meetings and the popular Vets Now two-day Congress which provides delegates with the opportunity to learn more about the latest developments in the field from a host of global speakers. Key training activities planned for the future consist of an enhanced induction programme for all employees, together with an extensive management training scheme to assist staff in their transition from veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse to a senior position running a Vets Now clinic. “Training is a vital element of our overall service, as we’re wholly reliant on the quality of our team to deliver excellent clinical and client care,” comments Richard Dixon, managing director of Vets Now. “We’re therefore delighted to have won this award which recognises our commitment to dedicated training initiatives for the on-going learning and development of our team.”
