Coming together to focus on saving pets’ lives

Vets Now has opened its bookings today (17 June 2022) for the UK’s only dedicated emergency and critical care Congress for the veterinary professions, which is back in person in Leeds after a two-year virtual run.

Taking place from Thursday 3 to Friday 4 November 2022 at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, 2022’s event will see over 80 hours of industry-leading CPD across seven streams – with everything from hypotension and sepsis to breaking bad news to clients – as well as world-renowned speakers and networking opportunities.

With state-of-the-art conference facilities, a spacious exhibition area and impressive Gala dinner space at New Dock Hall, The Royal Armouries has provided the ideal base to grow what is already the largest event dedicated to emergency veterinary medicine within the UK.

Internationally-renowned vet professionals Søren Boysen from the University of Calgary in Canada and Sophie Adamantos from Paragon Referrals in Wakefield, are among several high-profile speakers at this year’s Congress. Chief Executive for GB Snowsport, Victoria Gosling OBE, will open Congress as keynote speaker where she’ll focus on perseverance, resilience and teamwork.

Joining an all-star cast within the leading conference programme is Vets Now and IVC Evidensia’s very own Prof. John Williams, as well as Richard Casey, executive director for the World Small Animal Veterinary Association and VDS trainer Elly Russell.

Arlene Connor, an RVN and head of clinical operations at Vets Now and IVC Evidensia has – alongside national ECC lead Dan Lewis – planned the veterinary and nursing programme. She said: “We’re so excited to be returning to the Royal Armouries for our 19th Vets Now ECC Congress – around a theme which celebrates us all being together again. The past two years have been a challenge for all of us in the veterinary professions and we hope to mitigate that with a return to face-to-face learning and networking, as well as the chance to have some fun. Events like this can be hugely inspirational — for the organisers as well as the attendees — and we truly can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors like old times.”

Dan Lewis, ECC specialist at Vets Now and IVC Evidensia said: “There’s a brilliant line-up of live speakers, workshops, a packed exhibition hall and more opportunities than ever for delegates to meet old friends and make new ones, as well as to learn from some of the world’s leading veterinary experts discussing emergency and critical care.

“Our programme again this year has been carefully tailored to provide an inclusive learning experience for vets and vet nurses no matter what stage they’re at in their career, from students through to specialists.

The Congress programme is designed around both clinical and non-clinical streams. The non-clinical stream, centred around wellbeing, is set up to offer advice and practical tips on how best to look after ourselves and our colleagues with topics such as ‘Communicating in Stressful Situations’ and ‘Dealing with Client Unease’.

The ECC Congress was one of the most successful virtual events on the CPD circuit over the past two years. The virtual event last year welcomed a over 1100 visitors from 29 countries and in 2020 scooped a win at the Veterinary Marketing Association’s ‘Best Virtual Event’ award.

Established by Vets Now in 2004 to provide innovative ECC training to the veterinary profession, it has since grown into one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe — offering delegates more than 80 hours of CPD under one roof, delivered across a stimulating and diverse range of lectures, discussion forums, debate and interactive workshops.

Congress isn’t only about learning, however, as the Thursday evening features an amazing Winter Wonderland themed Gala Dinner to allow delegates to engage and relax after a day’s learning. There are also opportunities to unwind through yoga, mindfulness and a morning running club.

Vet Times is the headline media partner for the event and Woodley Equipment returns as headline sponsor. The Vets Now ECC Congress 2022 will be held between November 3 and 4 and online booking is live. Tickets range in price from £45 + VAT for exhibition-only tickets, up to £470 + VAT for a vet to attend for 2 days plus the Gala dinner. To book your ticket, go towww.vets-now.com/congress2022
