After 17 years as managing director for Virbac in the UK and Ireland, David Ellerton has announced that he will be retiring from his role at the end of this year. Under his leadership, Virbac UK & Ireland has grown to become one of the largest Virbac subsidiaries worldwide in revenue. David has also played a prominent role within the wider animal health industry, having previously held the office of chairman of the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) and served as a director for 15 years.

Charlotte Covell, Virbac’s commercial director, will take over the reigns as managing director for Virbac UK & Ireland in January 2021.

‘I will miss my Virbac colleagues terribly but I leave the business immensely proud of everything that we have achieved together’ said David Ellerton. ‘It is reassuring to know that I will be leaving both our colleagues and customers in Charlotte’s capable hands’.

Charlotte qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1997 and worked in mixed practice in rural Lincolnshire before making the move into industry. Charlotte has been with Virbac for 11 years, joining initially as a territory manager, before progressing to become regional manager, commercial manager, head of corporate and most recently commercial director. Outside of work, Charlotte is married to Ben and together they have two young children.

Commenting on her appointment, Charlotte said ‘I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to lead such a fantastic team at Virbac’. ‘Virbac has built a strong reputation as a customer focussed company and it is important to me that Virbac continues to grow in partnership with our customers’.
