Virbac has extended its support for Trusty Paws, a not-for-profit organisation launched in 2014, by donating products including vaccines and parasiticides.

Working with organisations which help the homeless, Trusty Paws provides basic veterinary care to dogs belonging to homeless people in Glasgow and has recently expanded to offer a similar service in London with the support of vet students from the Royal Veterinary College.  During monthly clinics, supervised veterinary students give free vaccinations and flea/worm treatments to the dogs of homeless people.  They also microchip them and provide bedding, food and clothing for both the dogs and their owners.

Ruby Shorrock, who qualified in 2015, set up Trusty Paws in 2014 as a vet student in Glasgow and her work has been recently recognised with an International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Award.  Now working as a vet in private practice in Glasgow, she remains a Trustee of Trusty Paws and is still actively involved in its day to day work.  She has a team of vet students who help staff and run the clinics.

Virbac, which has supported Trusty Paws since its inception, is providing additional supplies of its Canixin® vaccine, as well as its Milpro® wormer and Effipro® spot-on flea treatment.

Ruby Shorrock said:  "Since we launched Trusty Paws, the need for the service we offer has become increasingly obvious and we are working to extend the scope of what we provide in order to meet the welfare needs of the animals of the homeless in Glasgow.  Virbac has been with us since the early days and we are very grateful for its continued generous support for our work.”

Simon Boulton MRCVS, Head of Marketing (Companion Animal Business Unit) at Virbac, said:  "Trusty Paws offers a vital service to animals which live a difficult life but provide much needed companionship to their owners.  We are delighted to continue to support Trusty Paws in providing veterinary care to these deserving animals.”
