VRCC, the Essex based Referral Centre, has announced an increase to its already substantial facilities of between 5,000 and 15,000 Sq ft as they seek to further improve the service to their clients. New Clinicians Krista and Jerome New Clinicians Krista and Jerome Half of the new area will be filled by an impressive GE 1.5 Tesla (enclosed magnet) MRI Scanner, one of only three currently installed in UK Referral Centres. This very small number is almost certainly because of the necessary requirements of a very large infrastructure, dedicated specialist staff and the very high installation and running costs. The MRI will be installed on-site in December of this year. VRCC, whose team includes a large number of both European and American trained Specialists, is confident that this additional investment which will give fast access to superior images, will substantially benefit their patients. VRCC were the first Private referral centre in the UK to install a 6million Volt Linear Accelerator to deliver Radiotherapy treatments, the first UK Referral Centre to install a new multi-slice CT Scanner and now they are adding the 1.5 Tesla MRI, making it the only UK referral centre with all these facilities on-site. Practice Director Malcolm Holland says, “We have continually invested in the centre since opening the doors 7 years ago and are investing further, taking advantage of market conditions and the low Bank base rate to expand our facilities, enabling us to offer a better service to our patients.” Reinforcing VRCC’s investment strategy is the announcement of 2 new senior staff appointments. This month the Centre is joined by Krista Visser’t Hooft, Internal Medicine Specialist, originally from the Netherlands, she has spent the last two years in a busy US Referral Centre after completion of her Residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Also joining the team is Jerome Benoit, a Radiation Oncologist, who has just completed his Residency in North Carolina. His appointment strengthens VRCC’s unrivalled Oncology team, which already comprised of Oncology Specialist Dr Susan North, 2 oncology Residents, a Therapeutic Radiographer and Oncology Surgeons. VRCC also have plans to add a Neurologist to their team in the very near future.
