VRCC’s Ambitious 2nd East African Small Animal Conference Weekend

19th August, 2009 00h00

Building on last year’s success, VRCC one of the UK’s leading Referral Centres is hosting its 2nd event on the shores of The Indian Ocean this November. Leisure_Lodge_Dining.jpg The Conference Weekend, which now looks set to be a regular feature, is specifically aimed at supporting East African Veterinary Surgeons with their growing Small Animal caseload. This years event is more ambitious than last year when over 30 Vets experienced a 2-day programme from the VRCC team and other Specialists who were able to offer presentations of the very highest standards not readily available before to the Kenyans who attended. This years event will run from Friday 13th November when the opening session will be a series of ‘wet labs’ where the East African Vets can work in small groups ‘hands-on’ with the European Specialists. VRCC are expecting over 50 delegates this year from Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Africa and the UK as well as Kenya. Saturday and Sunday are taken up with lectures from a whole host of Specialists who have generously given up their time to share their knowledge with their East African colleagues. VRCC’s Dr Susan North (Oncology/Medicine) Dr Henry L’Eplattenier (Surgery) are joined by Dr Anita Patel (Dermatology) Prof. John Cooper (Pathology) and with grateful support again from Merial, Dr Frans Van Gool (Parasites) and from Pfizer, Dr Liza Le Roux (Vaccinations.) Malcolm Holland, Practice Director at VRCC says “we were so pleased with our first time achievement last year, attracting over 30 Vets to up-date and interact that we resolved to repeat the Weekend. We are happy to be able to donate our time and resources to this CPD event and we were especially delighted that others recognised our efforts and goals, stepping forward to join so we can offer an even better delegate experience than last year.” “We must all remember that whatever our input the event would not happen without the dedication of our Kenyan Team, Organiser Nonee Magree and Treasurer Dr Vijay Varma and supported by others who usually have to work in the most testing of conditions.” Full details of the VRCC Weekend Conference at Leisure Lodge, Diani Beach, South Coast, Mombasa, Kenya. 13th/15th November 2009 can be viewed on the VRCC Website: Download the flyer
