As part of an initiative to emphasise the importance of treating for flies early, Norbrook launched the Spotinor Summer Display Competition, which saw customers invited to create a sheep and cattle fly control display in store early in the fly season.

“Norbrook is now pleased to announce that Laura Robinson from Carrs Billington, Skipton, was awarded vouchers to the value of £300 for her winning Spotinor display,” says Leigh Sullivan, Large Animal Product Manager for Norbrook.

Dr Sullivan says the Spotinor Summer Display Competition gave farmers, SQPs and vets the opportunity to engage in conversations on the benefits of treating herds and flocks early.

“We have had a positive response from many of our stores and practices, who were on hand to provide farmers with guidance on their fly control plans.”

Steph Small MRCVS, Veterinary Advisor for Norbrook, says external parasites are a common threat for livestock farmers, flies particularly so in the summer when conditions are ideal.

“The combination of hot UK summer days, periodic rainfall and humid conditions offer flies the perfect breeding ground. Farmers can avoid costly infestations and herd losses, by treating animals early.”

Spotinor is an oily solution which treats and prevents infestations by lice and flies on cattle; ticks, lice, keds and established blowfly strike on sheep; and lice and ticks on lambs.
