Come Dine With Your Doggie Valentine & Help Unloved Dogs

Already planning your Valentine’s date for 2013? Well what more could you ask for than to spend the evening fine dining with your favourite companion? However we’re not just talking human companions here - but your own special four-legged loved one! On Tuesday 12th February top steak and fish restaurant The Coal Shed and local veterinary group Grove Lodge Vets will host Brighton’s first ever dog friendly Valentine’s Dinner for you and your beloved pet to wolf down, served from 6pm at The Coal Shed in the city’s fashionable South Lanes. This very special gourmet dinner includes a free glass of champagne on arrival for humans with venison liver bites for your canine comrade, followed by the finest rump steak to share, accompanied by fresh vegetables and rice, then coffee and truffles for you, and some famous Billy + Margot’s honey & banana iced treats for your pooch! Tickets are £25 for each well behaved owner with his or her dog dining for free, and what’s more The Coal Shed will also be donating £5 from each ‘couple’ to help four-legged unloved rescue dogs at the local Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Shoreham. As well as the finest gourmet menus for you and your doggie date to chow down on there’s also a fantastic raffle, with main prize a 60 x 60cm oil on canvas head and shoulder dog portrait by Brighton's best loved animal portrait artist Sara Abbott. All guests will leave with an “I’ve been goody” doggie bag too. The Coal Shed owner Razak Helalat says “If you’ve ever loved a dog (or been loved by a dog) come join some fabulous people and their best friends for this special occasion, while supporting a great cause. The idea’s already been well received by the city’s dog owners, partly because people don't like leaving their pets at home but also because they simply want to treat their dogs to the best food!” Co-host Marc Abraham, vet at Grove Lodge Vets Southwick clinic agrees “The primary purpose of most companion animals is to be just that – a companion. By sharing a special meal with your best friend together at this exciting venue you can also help unwanted rescue dogs too – everybody wins!” Dogs Trust Shoreham Manager, Tracey Rae, comments “I am thrilled that The Coal Shed and Grove Lodge Vets are raising pounds for the hounds of Dogs Trust Shoreham. We are urging loved-up couples in Brighton to book a table with their pooch to experience a unique doggie-dining event; the money raised will help us to care for hundreds of unwanted dogs until they find new homes. We have dogs of all shapes and sizes hoping to find big-hearted owners this Valentine’s.”
