Doggy Valentine’s Dinner Raises Hundreds Of Pounds For Rescue Dogs

Three very excited canine diners.Photo credit: Julia Claxton Photography Brighton vets and boutique restaurant canine fundraiser a howling success for local dog lovers Owner of the Coal Shed restaurant in Brighton, Razak Helalat and TV’s Marc the Vet - Marc Abraham of Sussex-based veterinary group Grove Lodge Vets - came up with a fun way to raise funds for local rescue centre Dog's Trust Shoreham by holding a special Valentine’s dinner for dog owners and their four-legged loved ones. Photo credit: Julia Claxton Photography On arrival the pampered pooches and their well-behaved humans enjoyed venison liver treats and a glass of bubbly respectively, before tucking into a fabulous steak dinner - something the Coal Shed is famed for in Brighton - and whilst the two-legged diners were offered coffee and chocolates for dessert, the happy hounds polished off gallons of Billy + Margot's Iced Treats - a nutritious doggy ice cream. Photo credit: Julia Claxton Photography A raffle was held, first prize being a portrait painting of the winner by renowned animal artist Sara Abbott, which was won by Buster, a cheeky young ‘puggle’ pug x beagle pup (pictured), and there were exciting doggy goody bags to take home for everyone. Photo credit: Julia Claxton Photography The Doggy Valentines Dinner evening successfully raised over £200 for local rescue centre Dogs Trust Shoreham where the money will be used to buy food, bedding, and toys. Marc Abraham vet at Grove Lodge Vets Southwick clinic said “It’s been a fantastic night. To see so many brilliant dogs and their lovely owners coming together to raise money for rescue dogs – the evening really couldn’t have gone any better; thanks to The Coal Shed and their brilliant staff for accommodating such a unique fun event and all for a good cause too.” Coal Shed owner Razak tweeted after the event “A big thank you to all who helped to make last night so special... Very proud.”
