Brighton vets and boutique restaurant canine fundraiser a howling success for local dog lovers
Owner of the Coal Shed restaurant in Brighton, Razak Helalat and TV’s Marc the Vet - Marc Abraham of Sussex-based veterinary group Grove Lodge Vets - came up with a fun way to raise funds for local rescue centre Dog's Trust Shoreham by holding a special Valentine’s dinner for dog owners and their four-legged loved ones.

On arrival the pampered pooches and their well-behaved humans enjoyed venison liver treats and a glass of bubbly respectively, before tucking into a fabulous steak dinner - something the Coal Shed is famed for in Brighton - and whilst the two-legged diners were offered coffee and chocolates for dessert, the happy hounds polished off gallons of Billy + Margot's Iced Treats - a nutritious doggy ice cream.

A raffle was held, first prize being a portrait painting of the winner by renowned animal artist Sara Abbott, which was won by Buster, a cheeky young ‘puggle’ pug x beagle pup (pictured), and there were exciting doggy goody bags to take home for everyone.
