A multidisciplinary animal hospital has expanded its emergency and critical care team with the appointment of two new clinicians.

Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, which is based in Swindon and part of Linnaeus, has welcomed Emma Pudge and Tamsin Williams to its expert clinical team after a period of exceptional growth at the practice, which now also offers out-of-hours services to a number of practices across Wiltshire.

Duncan Barnes, clinical director at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals, welcomed the appointments, saying: “At Eastcott, we pride ourselves on the ability to provide an exceptionally high level of veterinary care to our patients.

“We are not just equipped with state-of-the-art facilities but also a highly-skilled team that has driven remarkable growth over the years in all areas including emergency and critical care (ECC).

“Emma and Tamsin will be fantastic additions to the team and bolster our excellent ECC care and provision.”

Emma joins Eastcott with a wealth of experience in small animal practice. Emma started out in mixed practice in Wales, achieving her general practitioner certificate from the European School of post graduate Veterinary Studies (ESPVS). She moved to Australia where she worked at a large teaching hospital in Queensland before combining travel with work as a locum veterinary surgeon achieving her MANZCVS in ECC in the process. Emma returned to the UK to work in a busy small animal practice since then continuing her studies in the field of ECC.

Emma said: “I am very pleased to be joining Eastcott at such an exciting time and look forward to being a part of its continued growth.

“I have always been passionate about extending the right care and support that is needed during an emergency, be it neonatal, trauma or wound management and look forward to making my contribution to Eastcott Referrals.”

Tamsin brings with her more than a decade’s experience in emergency and critical care medicine. Following graduation from Bristol University, Tamsin began her career in mixed practice before moving to companion animals where she has worked in small animal practice and set up and managed an out-of-hours services.

She was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship and began her doctorate in Cardiff University School of Medicine. In 2016 Tamsin successfully defended her thesis in Immunology and was awarded her PhD. She has subsequently returned to clinical practice working mainly in emergency and critical care.

“I am excited to be a part of Eastcott and am really looking forward to working with the team in delivering first class veterinary care” she said.

Eastcott offers expert care in cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, diagnostic imaging and CT, anaesthesia and analgesia and has its own emergency and critical care centre.
